Region 11: Windsor

Area: That portion of the province of Ontario west of the western boundaries of the counties of Huron, Middlesex and Elgin. Region 11 covers the Southern Western Ontario border with the United States of America. They have traditionally worked closely with Region 20 of the United States Section. The City of Windsor is one of the oldest established cities in Ontario. In 1817 a Provincial Statute was passed entitling the establishment of the police in towns of Sandwich (Windsor) and Amherestburgh, both in Region 11. The city of Windsor was named in 1836, first being incorporated as a village in 1854 the same year as Halifax, Nova Scotia. |
