Region 14: Lethbridge & Manitoba

Manitoba Region Fourteen is centered in Lethbridge, and serves members in Southern Alberta and Manitoba.

About Our Region
Region #14 is proud to have members located in Manitoba as part of our region. They are quite a distance from most of our members and it is difficult to have them take part in events and socials we plan around the Lethbridge area. We presently have several members located in and around Winnipeg and other points in southern Manitoba.
When visiting Lethbridge, pay a visit to the well known Lethbridge Viaduct, commonly known as the High Level Bridge, being constructed between 1907–1909 at a cost of $1,334,525.00.
Just south of the bridge in the Indian Battle Park, is the location of Fort Whoop Up, also known as fort Hamilton, home to the largest period firearm collection in Canada.
Lethbridge is about 240 km (150 miles) south of Calgary and 100 km (65 miles) north of the border with Montana.
Just southwest of this city on the eastern slopes of the rocky Mountains are Waterton Lakes National Park and Glacier National Park (in the US), sharing the designation of an International Peace Park, being one of the best locations to watch wild life, like grizzly bears, black bears, moose, deer as well as mountain sheep and goats.
Just 50 km. to the west is Fort MacLeod. This town grew on the location of the Fort Macleod North-West Mounted Police (NWMP) Barracks.

Manitoba, the most eastern Canadian prairie province, has over 110,000 lakes and has a largely continental climate because of its flat topography. Manitoba's capital and largest city, Winnipeg, is home to 60% of the population of the province.
In Winnipeg pay a visit to the Forks National Historic site in the heart of the city, the Manitoba Legislative Building, the Eskimo Museum or the Manitoba Museum. Also the Basilique-Cathedrale de Saint Boniface or pay a visit to the Canadian Mint.
In the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre(www.discoverfossils.com)  in Morden MB, you find the largest collection of prehistoric marine fossils in North America.
About 1450 km. (910 miles) north of Winnipeg you find the town of Churchill on the shore of the Hudson Bay, the location to watch Polar Bears or try some snorkelling with Beluga Whales in the Churchill River.
Nickname of the town of Churchill is the "Polar Bear Capital of the World" Links:
